Preparation/ After Care
The key to a successful tan is proper spray tan prep.
Week Before
Moisturize! Make sure you hydrate your skin every day with moisturizer/lotion. A well-hydrated body makes for a deeper tan and will allow for the tan to last longer. Hydrate from within! The key to hydrated skin is to drink enough water.
1-2 Days Before
Shower, Shave, Wax, Exfoliate
-Gently exfoliate your skin removing the top layer of dry skin. Be careful not to over-scrub. Harsh scrubs can leave the skin splotchy or patchy. It’s best to exfoliate 72 hours before the tan. I don’t usually recommend it on the day of.
-Shaving should be done the day before the tan, this way the pours are not open leaving spots or speckles in the shaved area. This usually goes away after the rinse but can scare clients.
– Manicures and Pedicures should be taken care of before the tan. The solution will not mess up the manicure, however, the scrubs and access water from the mani/pedi will mess up the Tan!
Day Of Your Tan!
- Wear dark, loose clothing. The bronzer will come off on your clothes but will wash out once they are laundered. Stay away from elastic waistline pants that are tight on your skin.
- No lotion or Deoterant. If you must wear deodorant, no biggie however you must be aware that your underarms may turn green. THIS WILL WASH OFF WHEN YOU SHOWER.
- Plan on not showering or sweating for 8 to 10 hours. The body must stay dry if you choose the classic solution. 2 to 4 hours if you choose the Rapid and you may sweat if you choose the workout solution.
After Care
1. Wait for the recommended time for the solution to process before your first shower. The longer you leave it on the deeper and darker the tan will be.
2. It is recommended to shower as a rinse and avoid soap. This allows the bronzer to come off and the tan to deepen for a 24-hour period. If you think the bronzer color is too dark, use soap and the tan will come out a little lighter.
3. THE HOTTER THE SHOWER, THE FASTER IT WILL FADE!
4. The pool, I advise clients to rinse after the pool to keep their tan lasting. Chlorine dries out the skin and is a bleaching agent so it will shorten the life of your tan.
5. USE SUNBLOCK! You may be tan but your skin is still its normal color and the tan is not a barrier. You can still get burned.
